‘Olympic Flames’ Age Group Championships
The
Northern Ireland & Ulster Age Group Championships takes place
before the Senior Indoor Athletics Championships in the Odyssey
Arena and this year we have teamed up with Phoenix Gas to support
the future generation of stars. The event is jointly run by the
Ulster Athletics Association and Northern Ireland Athletic Federation.
Competitors
range from ages 13-17 and events include the 60m, 60 Hurdles,
800m, 1000m Walk, Long Jump, High Jump and Shot.

Natural Gas is delighted to be supporting the 'Phoenix Olympic
Flames' initiative at the upcoming Irish Indoor Athletic Championships
at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast. Commenting, Richard Rodgers,
Business Development Director for Phoenix said:
'Phoenix
has now been operating for ten years in Northern Ireland and has
grown from zero to over 100,000 natural gas consumers. Many of
the competitors in the weekend's under-age athletics competitions
have grown up from infancy during the same period and Phoenix
is delighted to play its part in supporting this competition for
talented local athletes, many of whom are aspiring to compete
in the Olympic Games in London in 2012.
Phoenix has always strived to put something tangible back into
the communities through which it has built its natural gas network.
Further, Phoenix is currently supporting vulnerable children and
their families through its 'Energy for Children Charitable Trust'
for which over £100,000 has been raised over the past year.
This new initiative represents another small element of support
that we hope will go some way to helping local talent realise
their dreams.'
